I have over 25 years in law enforcement spanning from 1990 to 2016. I started with the White Pine Co. Sheriff’s Office then the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the last 20 years with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Most of these years were spent in uniform patrolling neighborhoods and responded to calls for service from citizens. Within those years, I was a field training officer, academy instructor, and gang detective. I promoted to the rank of Sergeant which I held position in patrol, the problem solving unit, field training and the robbery section. I was a supervisor on an FBI safe streets gang task force. I finished my career as a patrol Lieutenant.

I have held many different liaison positions and conducted numerous community oriented presentations. These include:

LVMPD liaison to the project safe neighborhood. This committee which comprised of officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Clark County District Attorney’s Office, FBI, and BATF to address gun violence and the prosecution of these crimes.

I chaired the monthly Las Vegas bank security meetings to discuss strategies with our civilian colleagues to prevent criminal activity especially robberies from occurring. I developed prevention and awareness training and programs which are still used today. One of the programs was active shooter training for civilians.

I have conducted many public service announcements throughout my career concerning robberies and home invasions, holiday initiatives and overall safety and crime prevention.
